Sulayman Chappelle is the eldest of three children born in about 2006 to the American Primetime Emmy Award-winning actor, comedian, writer and producer Dave Chappelle, and his wife Elaine Mendoza Chappelle. He is of AfricanAmerican ethnicity and American nationality, with a part-Filipino ancestry through her mother. David Khari Webber ‘Dave’ Chappelle was born under the zodiac sign of Virgo on the August 24 1973 in Washington D.C. as the only child of William David Chappelle III and his spouse Yvonne K. Chappelle Seon, both college professors. His father worked at Antioch College while his mother lectured at Prince George’s Community College. The majority of his childhood Dave spent in Silver Spring, Maryland, where he also went to Woodlin Elementary School. With his popularity on the rise, he appeared in HBO’s TV serial “Def Comedy Jam” which led him to his debut ‘real’ acting appearance in the 1993 Mel Brooks’ comedy film “Robin Hood: Men in Tights” in which he appeared as Ahchoo. Into the limelight, Chappelle came in 1996 for appearing in “Buddies” TV comedy series, portraying the recurring role of Dave Carlisle.

Between 2003 and 2006, he worked on his own show – “Chappelle’s Show” which was aired for three seasons on the Comedy Central. To greater prominence Dave came in September 2004 for hosting a free music event in NYC’s borough of Brooklyn, known as Block Party which featured several popular music stars such as The Roots, Kanye West, Mos Def and Erykah Badu to name a few.
